He's both verbally and physically abusive, and is generally just a bad guy. As soon as Lucas starts drinking, we see him change Jake is gay, and Lucas refuses to have it. Jake's dad, named Lucas Wheeler, is played by a totally unrecognizable Devon Sawa-who you should recognize from many movies and shows from the '90s and 2000s. That's where the rule we mentioned comes into play. And while his dad tries his best when he's sober, as soon as his bottle comes out, he's a different guy. His widower father, though, is not a fan. The new story, set in a town called Hackensack, follows a kid named Jake who loves vintage/retro toys and making weird pieces of art from them. This rule comes into play in a big way early on in Chucky, the eight-part series now airing on USA Network and SyFy centered on a brand new story for the iconic titular serial-killing doll. There are a lot of other rules at play here (as Randy from the Scream franchise would have you know), but if you're a dick, and people in your movie are getting plucked off one by one? It's not looking good. General rule of thumb? If you're a dick, you're not long for this world. One of the most fun parts about watching a horror movie (including the movies in the Child's Play franchise) is meeting characters in the first act-sometimes in the first five or ten minutes-and trying to figure out who's going to make it out of the movie alive. The following story contains spoilers for Chucky episode 1.
